On Sunday, August 14, 1-3pm (US Eastern Time) we had a concert and dance celebration, entitled Azizanga 2022, to benefit Bridges To Malawi. Azizanga in Chichewa (the language of the people of Malawi) means “my friends.” This special event featured live music from Sunny Side Up! Join in front of the Town Hall in Hudson, MA, and a live broadcast at K2 TASO in Kasunga District, Malawi, Africa!
Attendees enjoyed the opening set from performed by The Shake It So Band including classic R&B and a new original song by Jonathan Slate.
About Bridges To Malawi
Bridges To Malawi partners with K2 TASO, an organization created and run by native Malawians. Together they work on projects that have a direct and immediate impact on the lives of the people of Malawi, which is one of the poorest countries in the world.
These organizations work on many amazing projects, including health care, agriculture, and education projects. This year, Shake It So is working to raise $13,500 to provide clean drinking water to 150,000 people for a year. Every year, many Malawians struggle to find clean drinking water. The consequences of drinking unclean water can be disastrous, especially for children.
We were able to raise over $1,100 from this event. Our friends on Malawi are still in need of help as the rainy season approaches and they are currently dealing with a cholera outbreak. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!
Our friend Harrison H. Mchoma is a talented photographer from Malawi and some of his prints were on exhibition for event. Here are some sample of his work. You can see more at Sophiist TheGrapher on Instagram. Anyone who donated took away a beautiful photograph from Malawi.
